Foundation Modern Apprentice awards in Transporting Passengers by Road were achieved by:
Brian England, Tony O’Keefe, Gwyn Thomas and David Maynard.
Brian and Tony have now been promoted to Traffic Superintendents.
NVQ Level 2 in Transporting Passengers by Road were achieved by Paul Morris and Julia Zieba
Everyone had to balance their shifts and personal home life into achieving the awards and co-operated with the assessor, John Martin, in arranging various assessment times due to the shift patterns, from early hours in the morning to well after midnight. The National express Driver’s routes ranged from Swansea to London and Bradford.
The Key Skills elements included Information Technology, Application of Number and Communication and were managed by John Charles who spent numerous hours sending and reading e-mails and, where possible, running workshops advising the candidates on how to achieve these skills.
Co-ordinator and Internal Verifier for this Programme was Ray Andrews who also spent his waking hours travelling to Llantwit Fardre. Ray took over as IV as a result of Brian Evans moving to the sunnier climate of Barbados.
Clive Williams as Field Officer played a part too by signing up the candidates and delivering the induction programme.
Many thanks go to Dave Simms and Philip Brown who spent many hours tearing their hair out arranging the shifts and duties so that assessor John, IV Ray and John Charles were able to meet the candidates to carry out their various tasks.
Finally, WELL DONE to all the candidates for a very good effort. A good night was had by all.
