Christopher Mullins

Christopher started on the Jobs Growth + Wales programme with Llanelli Rural Council Training in December 2022. The aim for Christopher was to find an occupation in engineering. During his time, he begun working a part time job in the Ashburnham Golf Club however soon realised that this industry was not for him. Here, he decided he wanted to go onto the Prince’s Trust Programme, delivered by the LRC Training to expand his skills, specifically in communication and leadership.

How the Trust supported the YP

Christopher was an exemplar student on the programme. He was passionate and always put in 100% effort. During his time, his aim was to make new friends and do things ‘out of my comfort zone’. The Trust taught him different skills including how to work as a team and problem solving. During these activities, Chris was focused on how to develop these, as he wanted to work towards enhancing his leadership skills. Due to the physical activities such as Coasteering and Community Project in the Dwyfor Community Garden Project, Chris decided to complete the Actif programme with Carmarthenshire Country Council, which gives him the basic qualification to work in the local leisure centre and go into sports and fitness.

What was the result of this

Being a focused young person, Christopher completed his time with Prince’s Trust with amazing focus, commitment and dedication. Christopher has broadened his horizon by working well with other organisation, which has improved his social circle. He has stated he is happy with this, as he has made new friends, which have similar interests with him.

In addition, Christopher has successfully been offered a work placement with Carmarthenshire County Council as a Leisure Assistant. The aim of the placement is for Chris to run gym classes, organise and run gym classes throughout summer, which will cater for a variety of people.

Quote from Christopher “I have really enjoyed the Prince’s Trust program and feel I have gotten to know the other learners as well as the staff and am grateful to have been given the chance to go on this program. Since starting, I have done various activities and I’ve enjoyed my time here. I am very grateful to Maxine and Cari for making my time here much more enjoyable as they have helped me progress with my career in sport/fitness and I am looking forward to starting work in the Leisure centre”.
